Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Houston-Harris County Emergency Rental Assistance Program closing?

The Houston-Harris County Emergency Rental Assistance Program is now only accepting applications for renters with active eviction cases (cases with a case or cause number).

Please visit the Resources tab for information on additional resources available. If you are currently in eviction court and have a case or cause number, you can find details on program eligibility, documentation requirements, and submit a new application here. You cannot update an existing application.

What if I have an eviction citation or petition for eviction?

If your landlord has already taken you to court to evict you, you may be eligible for eviction intervention rental assistance. Any eligible renter who is in eviction proceedings is encouraged to submit a new application here. You cannot update an existing application.

Anyone who already applied for rental relief who now is in eviction proceedings is encouraged to update their application with their eviction case number by calling The Alliance at 346-396-5556 or emailing [email protected]. Any applicant appearing in court as part of an eviction proceeding should mention their rental assistance application and call The Alliance for support.
